Edmonds Community College is hosting its third annual "Mathematics Across the Curriculum" Summer Institute for faculty (especially non-math faculty) from high schools, community colleges and four-year colleges and universities in Washington state.  The MAC project began at EdCC to support our Quantitative Reasoning College-Wide Ability, and it has now expanded to include high schools and colleges around Washington State.  The MAC project helps students experience the beauty, utility and relevance of mathematics by assisting non-math faculty across the disciplines in creating and implementing projects that make more explicit the mathematical dimensions of their discipline &/OR incorporating Ethnomathematics into their courses.  Interdisciplinary teams that include a “math-mentor” to assist non-math faculty in their work are encouraged to attend.

The institute will feature workshops given by experienced MAC faculty from  Edmonds Community College, Dartmouth College and other colleges around the state.  The institute also will provide the needed time and assistance for faculty to create projects and assessments for their classroom.  The institute will be held at Sleeping Lady Retreat Conference Center just outside of Leavenworth, WA on August 20-23, 2002.  Registration is $100 which includes food and lodging.  Faculty will be paid a $240 stipend for attending the institute.

Join us for a productive and fun time.
