Edmonds Community College presents:

Mathematics Across the Curriculum

Summer Institute 2001
August 21-24

Sleeping Lady
Leavenworth, Washington

Resources for Participants

Experienced Faculty & Consultants
The workshops at the institute will be facilitated by faculty who have already implemented MAC projects in their classrooms.  These faculty will also be on hand during the institute to meet with interested participants. Also available to participants will be Dr. Edwardo Jesus Arismendi-Pardi (Ethnomathematics) and Dr. Dorothy Wallace of Dartmouth College a principal investigator of Dartmouth's successful MAC project.

Concrete Examples of Successful MAC Projects
During the first session at the institute participants will be able to view posters describing MAC projects that have already been implemented.  Also included will be sample syllabi, assignments and assessments.  Many of the workshops at the institute will include descriptions of these projects as well.

Computer & Web Access
One of the reasons for choosing Sleeping Lady as our facility is that Web access is available in every room.  At the institute one large room will be set aside at all times with computers, a printer and web access.

$240 Stipends for Participants
Because the institute is being held when most faculty are not on contract we are paying faculty a modest stipend of $60/day (X4 days = $240) to attend the institute.  We hope that faculty will use these monies to help them create and implement their projects.
